Take a closer look at the lists you already have.
Are there any names you aren't using? Cold leads that have just been sitting there for the last few years? People who you've mailed to in the past without result? Take another look at them.
There are all sorts of reasons why people haven't given to you in the past. One possibility: they never opened your mailing.
Sadly, many of those you mail to will never open your letters. They'll go from the mailbox to the trash. This doesn't mean the person isn't a good prospect. It may mean you need to make your envelope more enticing.
Bottom line:
They made it into your database somehow - suggesting that at one point they had an interest or involvement with your organization.
And that makes them a much more likely prospect than some random name from a purchased list.
Try approaching them again.
